Dear mentors and graduate students:
In order to better standardize the graduate training and degree work, the graduate training sessions as well as the degree application sessions are arranged as follows.
I. Graduate proposal
Preparation of the dissertation should start as early as possible. The proposal report of master's degree students should be completed at the beginning of the -th semester of the second academic year (before the end of September), and the interval from the proposal report to the midterm examination of master's degree students should be no less than five months in principle. The proposal report of doctoral students shall be completed at the end of the first semester of the first academic year in principle.

II. Graduate mid-term
The mid-term examination of master's degree students shall be completed at the beginning of the fifth semester (before the end of September), and the interval between the mid-term examination and the defense of the dissertation of master's degree students shall be no less than five months in principle.

III. General competency tests
In principle, the comprehensive ability test for doctoral students should be completed at the end of the first semester of the second year of doctoral program (before the end of December). If the comprehensive ability test needs to be delayed due to special reasons (e.g. going abroad, taking a leave of absence, etc.), a written application must be submitted two months in advance, and the extension can be approved by the supervisor and the college, and those who fail to take the comprehensive ability test without special reasons are regarded as failing the comprehensive ability test.

IV. Plagiarism check and Blind review application
All master's degree students (including international students and part-time professional master's degree students) who are ready to apply for graduation and degree are required to apply in the Graduate Management System five months in advance, and their supervisors will check and pass the application. Students who have not passed the application for checking and blind assessment will not be able to participate in the plagiarism checking, blind assessment and defense session of the batch of graduation.

V. Pre-defense
Graduate students pursuing the doctoral degree of the University, who have obtained the course credits required for the doctoral degree, have achieved the required grades and have completed the work on the doctoral dissertation, may apply for a predefense. Only those who have passed the predefense can apply for formal defense to the Academic Degree Office of the university. The applicant shall report the completion of the dissertation, including the purpose and significance of the selected topic, the current status of research on the topic at home and abroad, the object and content of the research, the materials and methods of the research, the main data and conclusions, the innovation of the dissertation, the results of published papers and patents, etc. The applicant shall also report the completion of the dissertation.

VI. Dissertation plagiarism check
The dissertation should be written in accordance with the requirements of the 《北京化工大学研究生学位论文撰写规范》（北化大校教发【2017】39号）.
All master's and doctoral students applying for defense must participate in plagiarism checks for their theses (including those that are not yet publicly available). Only dissertations that have passed the plagiarism check can be submitted for blind review.
VII. Blind review of dissertation
All the dissertations of doctoral degree students participate in the blind evaluation at the university level. The Academic Degree Office of the university randomly samples no less than 10% of the dissertations of master's degree students to take part in the blind evaluation at the university level, and the list of the sampled students to be blindly evaluated will be announced one month prior to the submission of the blind evaluation papers. The percentage of blind evaluation of colleges shall be determined by the Sub-committee of Degree Evaluation of each college, and currently it is 100%.

VIII. Dissertation defense
The method of master dissertation defense adopts the method of centralized defense. For specific requirements, please refer to the “《北京化工大学硕士研究生集中答辩实施细则（修订）》（北化大校教发【2017】24号）”. The doctoral thesis defense can only be organized and conducted by the supervisor after being approved by the degree evaluation committee. IX. Degree applications
Graduate students pursuing master's degree or doctoral degree may be awarded the degree if they have obtained the credits of the courses required for the master's degree or doctoral degree, achieved the required grades, and completed the other requirements, defended the dissertation, fulfilled the requirements for the application for the degree, and passed the examination of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of the university.
